There were throngs of worshippers crammed into the temple for the Aarti. Simultaneously, the instant the gulal was blown, a fire started. This fire burned 13, persons, including the senior priest. According to Ujjain Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh, who provided details on this incident, a camphor fire broke out inside the sanctuary sanctorum of the Mahakal temple during the Bhasma Aarti. The Collector reported that all of the injured have been taken to the hospital and are safe.

Asked the State Government To Help the Victims

Prime Minister Modi requested the state administration to assist the victims and wished them a speedy recovery by sharing the post. Home Minister Amit Shah posted on social media about the disaster that happened at the Mahakal temple in Ujjain and said he has spoken over the phone with the state’s chief minister about it. Sharing the post, Amit Shah stated that he spoke with Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav and received details on the fire that occurred in the Shri Mahakal Temple.
